Crataegus pinetorum

COMMON NAME:
pineland hawthorn

This Crataegus does not conform accurately to any previously described member of the Series Pulcherrimae, to which it obviously belongs. Most similar is C. pinetorum, from which these plants differ by their abundance of unlobed, ovate/elliptical leaves. The apically acute leaves are dissimilar to C. mendosa, a Pulcherrimae member also known from the state. These plants are undescribed but may be provisionally designated a locally divergent form of C. pinetorum. Identified by Ron Lance, 31 Jan 2024
